🍭🍩 Candy Land Birthday Party 🍩🍭

Writer: Brooke RalphBrooke Ralph

When I was looking for a fun theme to host at our home for my daughters' 5th birthday party and stumbled upon Candy Land, I was sold. This was such a fun party to plan and host! Check out all of the details below.

DECORATIONS:

  • Balloon Garland- I really loved this set because it also came with the Candy Land backdrop, and a rainbow tablecloth. This is a great price for everything that came within this kit.

  • Electric Balloon Pump

  • Candy Land Signs to post around the yard at each station. I purchased Tiki torches to stick them to. We will be able to use these by the fire pit all summer long.

  • Letterboard that can be used year round and customized for holidays

  • Lollipop Pool Noodle Decor- I went to Dollar General and got Pool Noodles {two per each large lollipop and one for each smaller pop}. Watching videos, it said to use a high temp glue gun to glue them together, but in my experience they just melted through the pool noodles. Instead, I rolled them up and used toothpicks and bamboo skewers to hold them together. I then used cellophane gift bags to cover and tie them, and bough 1/2 inch PVC pipe from our local hardware store to use as the lollipop sticks. They were sharp enough to push into the pool noodles, and into the ground easily. My kids loved being part of the project for the balloon garland and lollipop construction!

CANDY LAND STATIONS AND ACTIVITIES:

This was the best part of planning and hosting the party! We created a Candy Land board around our backyard for the kids to travel through to the different Candy Land locations, and boy did all of the party goers have a blast! At each stop, there was an activity to complete and a prize to add to their gift bags.

  • Candy Land Board- I got 12x18 white paper and then had my girls help me add a square of 12x12 colored cardstock in the colors that we wanted our game board to be. We stuck them together using scrapbooking glue.

  • Candy Land Signs to post around the yard at each station- I purchased Tiki torches to stick them to. We will be able to use these by the fire pit all summer long.

  • For the stations, I didn't put them exactly in order but how they fit our backyard. here is the order we did them in.

  1. Cupcake Commons- We began with Pin the Cherry on the Cupcake. The treat here was Cupcake Sticky Notes to add to their Candy gift bag. I loved these gift bags because they already came with a candy sticker which was another activity for my daughters to help assemble before the party.

  2. Donut Slopes- Here we had the kids try to eat donuts that were hung from string on a tree. It's fun to watch them chase the donut and they finish with that sweet treat. We handed out donut key chains as the prize for the Donut Slopes.

  3. Gingerbread House- The kids then progressed to our treehouse, which I had decorated with peppermint candy cutouts. They played in the treehouse for the activity and were gifted a stacking gingerbread pencil for their treat bag. I plan to use the extra peppermint cutouts, and gingerbread pencils for a Winter classroom party.

  4. Lollipop Woods- We used foam sheets similar to this to travel through a path from the treehouse around to the firepit. Kids collected scattered candy throughout Lollipop Woods to add to their treat bag, in addition to their choice of one of these Giant Lollipops.

  5. Chocolate Mountain- Our fire pit with a Smores station was this activity and treat for Chocolate Mountain. Using the square marshmallows are my favorite. We also took time at this station to have the kiddos change into their swimsuits if they wanted, as the upcoming stations included wet elements.

  6. Ice Palace- We decorated our trampoline with hanging iridescent snowflake garland to make it look like an ice palace. Using a combination of water, and a bubble solution and wand kit with the leaf blower, the kids had a bubble party! This blue foam spray was also used to add in to the fun. Kiddos collected a Snowflake Candy Bracelet at this station to add to their treat bag.

  7. Ice Cream Sea- We took a moment for this station to sing Happy Birthday to the girls, and have cake and ice cream. Kids collected Ice Cream Poppers to add to their goodie bag.

  8. Gummy Hills - At Gummy Hills, kids used water balloons to throw at chalk targets on our rock wall. And make sure to check out the reusable ones, too! We also had Orbeez water beads set up in our water table as a sensory activity for littles. Kids collected water bead fidget balls.

  9. Candy Castle - As the grand finale, the Candy Land game ended at the Candy Castle water slide, similar to this one, where they climbed, slid, and splashed to their heart's content. Candy Tattoos were the activity and treat planned for this station.

This was such a fun theme for a party, and we loved hearing the giggles all afternoon long! Please let me know if there is a party you are are hosting and you need help finding the decorations, or activities. I'd be happy to curate something for you. 🫶🏻 *Note that some items or links within this group, or blog posts may earn a commission, as a part of the Amazon Affiliates program, or a paid partnership with ShopStyle.
